Sudhakar Tomar’s, a farmer, businessman and social worker’s early years were spent in a proud but struggling farming family in a rural part of northern India.
After bright schooling in villages and small towns in India his first breakthrough came in the early 90s when at the young age of 21 he was offered a job to trade agricultural commodities with Aditya Birla group with US$ 35 Billion dollars. He did reasonably well there and in 1995 he was sent to Dubai to open an office in Jebel Ali Free Zone and the same year he started operations in Syria and Turkey.
In 1997 he joined Hakan Agro group where he has been serving as the Managing Director. Hakan Agro DMCC is a home of the growing multinational company headquartered in Dubai with offices, factories, distribution hubs and farming operations in 30 countries, with turnover of AED 5 billion ( US$ 1.5 Billion).
An unabashed ardent lover of his second home Dubai UAE Mr. Tomar serves as the Board Member of Dubai Food Trade Advisory Group of DMCC (Government of Dubai), the CXO Alliance, Non Profit Krishna Foundation and as Honorary Chairperson (Communications & Sponsorships) of the Global Pulse Confederation which represents over 800 million farmers producing 70 million tons of pulse production, valued at US $100 billion.
Mr. Tomar’s keen interest in Rural Poverty Alleviation, Rural Education, Food Security and Global Malnutrition in Asia & Africa, helped raise over US $ 3.5 million in sponsorships and donations.
With over 24 years of multi-faceted industry experience, Mr. Tomar is an oft-celebrated agribusiness expert with over 100 speeches to his credit. Most recently, he was bestowed with the “Grain Asia“ , “International Pulse Man of the Year“ and “Indian CEO 2016“ awards for outstanding contribution to agri-commodities trade and in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility.
More recently he has been instructed by Mr Narendra Modi, Prime Ministers of India, to present a white paper on reducing malnutrition and improving.
