Ivanna Dorichenko is an international trade expert and commodity arbitrator with over 20 years of practical experience in advising and representing commercial parties in international commercial disputes concerning all aspects of sale and transportation of commodities (including grain, feed, oils and oilseeds). She has extensive experience in international commercial arbitration, in particular, GAFTA, FOSFA, LMAA, LCIA and ICC as well as in handling multi-jurisdictional claims and associated enforcement proceedings worldwide. She is a skillful negotiator often assisting clients in business and settlement negotiations and is highly regarded by clients for her practical approach and commercially sensible advice, especially at the early stages of disputes.
Ivanna’s work also involves drafting international commercial contracts as well as advising commodity traders and cargo interests at all stages of contract execution in various jurisdictions. This includes international payments, quality issues, trade finance schemes, charterparties, bills of lading and various shipping and transportation issues. In addition, Ivanna advises on conflict of laws, commercial risks and their minimization, protection of international investments and other aspects of international business.
Ivanna is well-known for her expertise on the international grain and oilseeds markets. Being one of the first local lawyers involved in GAFTA and FOSFA work in the Black Sea region and the CIS countries, Ivanna has deep knowledge of all regional aspects of international trade and is recognized as a top commodity practitioner in the region. She assisted GAFTA in opening their offices in Ukraine in 2005 and spent some time with GAFTA as their Interim Head of Training preparing and delivering GAFTA courses worldwide. Since then she has become a regular trade coach and mentor helping trading companies grow and improve their knowledge of practical aspects of trade and dispute resolution tools.
Ivanna holds an LLM degree in International Commercial Law from Northumbria University, GAFTA Trade Diploma and a Certificate in Negotiation and Leadership of the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School. She is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a non-practicing barrister (England and Wales). She is a regular speaker at international commodity events and has a range of publications on trade related issues.
